Hiking Around Our Campground

With 4 state & national parks within 45 minutes of the campground, there’s an endless amount of adventure and exploration that you can embark on during your stay here. Many of these campgrounds with hiking trails also support mountain biking and some even allow 4×4 vehicles!

Little River Canyon National Preserve

With a 700 ft deep canyon, waterfalls, and viewpoints – this national preserve is a nature lover’s playground.

Our Favorite Hikes:

  1. Little River Canyon – 1.4 mi. – popular beginner friendly hike. (Local Favorite)
  2. Little River Canyon Backcountry Trail – 7.3 mi. – parts of this trail can be off-road friendly for 4×4 vehicles.
  3. Horseshoe Falls Trail – 5.0 mi. – beautiful waterfall, moderate hike.
  4. Eberhart Trail – 0.8 mi – short but strenuous hike, best entry point into the river.
  5. Canyon Mouth Trail – 1.6 mi – the southern most tip of the canyon before it feeds into Weiss Lake.

DeSoto State Park

The starting point of the Little River Canyon featuring serene nature & beautiful waterfalls.

Our Favorite Hikes:

  1. Desoto Scout Trail – 12.1 mi. – moderate but lengthy trail that connects Desoto state park to the Little River Canyon.
  2. Laurel Falls & Lost Falls Trail – 2.3 mi. – moderate hike to view 2 beautiful waterfalls.
  3. DeSoto Falls Bottom & Bluff Trail – 2.0 mi – takes you to the overlook and then inside of DeSoto Falls. (local favorite)
  4. Gilliam Loop – 3.4 mi. – takes you through part of the scout trail and loops the south side of the State Park

Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area

A beautiful wild life preserve in the midst of the mountains.

Our Favorite Hikes:

  1. Zahnd Wildlife Area Loop – 2.7 mi – beautiful mountainview loop with high likelihood of seeing animals! (local favorite)
  2. Allen Creek Falls – 2.5 mi. – Moderate creekside trail
  3. Pigeon Mountain via Rocktown Trail – 2.3 mi. – mountain overlook trail.
  4. Pocket & West Brow Trail – 4.7 mi. – Summit of the west brow of the mountain.

Cloudland Canyon State Park

Known for its foggy mountainous viewpoints and serene hiking.
Our Favorite Hikes:

  1. West Rim Loop Trail – 2.4 mi. – summit of the west Rim of the canyon.
  2. Prince Albert & Cloudland Canyon – 3.4 mi. – connects Prince Albert & Cloudland Canyon.
  3. Cloudland Canyon Connector – 7.0 mi. – hike through most of the state park.
  4. Cherokee Falls & Hemlock Falls Trail – 1.2 mi. – short trail to two beautiful waterfalls.
